2-2. Preparation Information before Gastroenteroscopy
To ensure the accuracy of your Gastroenteroscopy results, please pay attention to the following advice:
Gastroscopy
Normal diet, light food mainly, 3 meals a day.
Colonoscopy
2 Days before Colonoscopy,please take 3 meals a day:
Recommended:light, low-fiber, semi-liquid food;
Avoided: greasy food, beans, vegetables or fruits with seeds or skin.
The night before the examination:
No food should be taken after taking the laxative.
Within 4 hours before procedure:
Please keep fasting.
For Patients with constipation
Use cathartic, such as lactulose, 3 days in advance;
After medication intake, move or walk instead of staying in bed;
Abdomen massage clockwise to facilitate defecation is also recommended.
For patients with hypertension
Take antihypertensive drugs with a small amount of water 4 hours before the examination (after the preparation medicine);
Be fasting until the end of the examination.
For Diabetic patients
Be fasting in the morning of procedure, and not to take insulin injection or oral hypoglycemic medicine.
Patients on special medication
Patients on any anticoagulants (Warfarin, Aspirin), antidepressants or blood circulation activating /stasis removing herbs, withhold such medicine for 7 days before the examination;
Please consult your doctor for detailed medicine plan.
Preparations on the day of procedure
Patients who are having pain free endoscopy should have a companion on the day of examination.
Please DO NOT drive or arrange other matters on the day.
Hospitalization or observation may be arranged afterwards if there are problems or conditions found in the examination.
Before coming to the hospital, please remove your nail polish, as well as dentures, contact lenses, accessories and other metal items.
Please arrive promptly at the Endoscopy Clinic on the 8th-floor as per notice for the procedure.
